“O ye who believe! Seek help with patient Perseverance and Prayer: for Allah is with those who patiently persevere. And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: ‘They are dead.’ Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not. Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere—who say, when afflicted with calamity: ‘To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return’—They are those on whom (descend) blessings from their Lord, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance.” (al Baqarah, 2:153-157)
“Say: ‘Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our Protector’: And on Allah let the Believers put their trust. Say: ‘Can you expect for us (any fate) other than one of two glorious things—(martyrdom or victory)?...” (al Tawbah, 9:51-52)
The Prophet of Allah (saw) is reported to have said: “He who equips a warrior in the way of Allah (is like one who actually) fights and he who looks after the family of a warrior in the way of Allah in fact participated in the battle.” (Muslim)
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “Who sought martyrdom with sincerity will be ranked by Allah among the martyrs even if he died on his bed.” (Muslim)
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “One who died but did not fight in the way of Allah, nor did he express any desire (or determination) for Jihad, died the death of a hypocrite.” (Muslim)
If we didn’t try a little to support our brothers and their families, then we should certainly be regarded as munafiqs (hypocrites). We feel sorry for the little that we can do. We were not Muslims following the Sunnah during Malcolm’s time, but now, we understand our duty to our martyrs and our leaders who’ve been unjustly jailed and isolated. On February 21, 2010—the 45th anniversary of the martyrdom of Malcolm X—help us help them and their families! For those who love and understand the importance of this cause, but will not be able to attend, please send your contribution to: Masjid Al-Islam / 4603 Benning Road SE / Washington, DC 20019. Your donation is tax-deductible. Our Tax ID number is: 94-3062482.
P.S. For those who will be attending, join us in also celebrating our newly opened center of strategic planning and work in Washington, DC: the Islamic Institute for Counter Zionist American Psychological Warfare!

Imam Musa, Kamal Nawash, & the Obama Budget
Yep, you heard right--in the latest edition of Press TV's "American Dream," Imam Musa sits at the roundtable with none other than Kamal Nawash to discuss Obama's $3.8 trillion budget. Described by some as a "favorite Muslim" of Islam-haters (Daniel Pipes calls him "brave" and "creative"), and by others as a "self-loathing Muslim", Nawash gained notoriety a few years ago as the odd personality behind the unpopular "March Against Terror" held in DC, which voiced support for U.S.-sponsored "freedom and democracy in the Middle East and Muslim world". That being said, this roundtable discussion proves to be an interesting interplay, and of course Imam Musa represents as usual.
Note: The portion with Imam Musa and Nawash is the second half (the first half has another set of guests). To get straight to the second half, simply drag the bar to the middle point.

Oakland Event Cancelled
Here in DC, we've been immobilized by a BIG snowstorm (it goes on record as one of the biggest in local history). Insha'Allah, the program in Oakland will be rescheduled for sometime before the end of this month. Stay tuned...

For several years, the role model for the As-Sabiqun movement has always been Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik Shabazz). On February 15, 2010, Masjid Al-Islam (Oakland) will, insha’Allah, be celebrating the martyrdom of this noble individual.
45 years have passed since February 21, 1965, yet while many have honored Malcolm X in speeches, lectures, eulogies, movies, posters, and various events and celebrations, no one has accepted his mission. For over 30 years, the As-Sabiqun movement and Masjid Al-Islam has attempted to expand on Malcolm X’s ideas, principles, and his work, which was cut short by his assassination. In the past, our great leaders rose to the occasion of the times in which they lived: Douglass rose up against slavery with his activism in the abolitionist movement; Booker T. Washington rose to correct the errors of Reconstruction; Paul Robeson rose up against Jim Crow; Martin Luther King, Jr., rose up against segregation, racial inequality, and injustice; and Malcolm X rose up against racism, colonialism, neo-colonialism, and global oppression.
Now, the torch has been passed over to us and we are in a position to either accept or reject the challenges related to the current reality with which we are faced. We accept! We are living in a time when there is a global war being waged against Islam and Muslims. Each people must rise to the challenges and opportunities of their time. In the U.S.A., none of our able organizations are willing to face the global monster of Zionist Americanism. With this in mind, the As-Sabiqun movement has opened a new center in Washington, DC, to be known as the Islamic Institute for Counter Zionist American Psychological Warfare.
Masjid Al-Islam has survived 30 years of infiltrators, saboteurs, agent provocateurs, informants, and snitches. The FBI, as well as state and local officials, have maintained a steady policy of psychological warfare, yet we are still here, even with 80% of our personnel being FBI-type agents—especially the past leadership in Oakland.
Join us on February 15, 2010, to support our newly opened institute in Washington, DC! For those who love and understand what we are doing and represent, but don’t want to be outwardly associated with us, purchase a money order and send it to: Masjid Al-Islam / 8210 MacArthur Blvd. / Oakland, CA 94605.

Every waking day, a new threatening Muslim-made plot seems to emerge and present itself in the Western media. One can barely watch the news without hearing about the newest threat posed by some previously-unheard-of group of crazed, fanatical “jihadists” who hope to undermine the civilized world (i.e. America and Europe) and re-establish a global Caliphate based on barbarianism.
We at Masjid Al-Islam are sick and tired of these bogus threats and news reports. We are sick and tired of the FBI, CIA, Mossad (Israeli intelligence), and RAW (Indian intelligence) working together to manufacture a fake Muslim “boogey-man” in order to justify their war on Islam. Meanwhile, our big Islamic organizations take these news reports at face value and apologize for threats and possible atrocities without any investigation.
“O ye who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done.” (al Hujurat, 49:6)
Allah (swt) tells us to investigate news. If a crime is reported, we must ascertain the following:
• The motive for the crime – Who benefits?
• Who had the ability to carry it out?
• Who has a history of this behavior pattern/mode of operation?
In each and every case, after careful thinking and investigation, you’ll find that it is the Mossad, CIA, and FBI scheming, staging secretive operations, bombing and killing innocent people, and then blaming these attacks on Muslims in order to give Islam a bad name and justify their continued murder and occupation of Muslim peoples and lands.
We have spoken out in rallies, demonstrations, protests, and in our writings for over 30 years now. We have warned the Muslims about the inevitable war that would be waged by the enemies of Islam. We have pleaded with the big Muslim organizations to stand up for themselves; yet the more they are set up and attacked, the more defensive they become.
Put simply, help the new Islamic Institute for Counter Zionist American Psychological Warfare. We are in the final stages of converting our original, modest masjid into a place of research, creative thinking, and strategic planning and work. Our immediate needs and expenses include: equipment and software for high-quality video recording, editing, and duplication; equipment for massive copying and printing; and voluntary staff allowances. Support us! For your privacy and safety, purchase a postal money order and send it to: Masjid Al-Islam / 4603 Benning Road SE / Washington, DC 20019 (please consider donating in the amount of $5,000, $1,000, $500, $250, or $100). Whatever you send, we pledge to use it—as we have in the past—in a judicious manner.
The U.S. has invaded Afghanistan and Iraq and killed and wounded hundreds of thousands of Muslim women, children, and men; they have sent high-tech missiles to destabilize the whole of Pakistan; yet they call us “terrorists”. They must be killing us to make way for democracy. Gaza lies in rubble. The world watches as the only “democracy” in the Middle East starves our people to death. Kashmir has been occupied for over 60 years by the world’s biggest “democracy” (India), yet the Kashmiris are labeled as terrorists.
Help us develop this world class organization in Southeast Washington, DC! It is all for you!

Help the Muslims in Haiti!
"And be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send forth for your souls before you, ye shall find it with Allah: for Allah sees well all that ye do." (al Baqarah, 2:110)
"Seest thou one who denies the Judgement (to come)? Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness), and encourages not the feeding of the indigent. So woe to the worshippers who are neglectful of their Prayers, those who want but to be seen (of men), but refuse to supply even neighbourly needs." (Al Ma'un, 107:1-7)

So woe to the worshippers who are neglectful of their Prayers, those who want but to be seen (of men), but refuse to supply even neighbourly needs." (Al Ma'un, 107:1-7)
Everyone is aware of the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in Haiti and help is needed everywhere. However, due to the small number of Muslims in Haiti (they represent only 0.04% of the population), much of that help will not be focused on them specifically. We have an opportunity to honor our covenant with Allah (swt) by helping one of the Muslim communities there. The community of Masjid at-Tawhid in Port-Au-Prince is very young. All of the community members' homes were destroyed, but the masjid is still standing (alhamdulillah) and many of them have sought refuge there. They are in need of basic supplies (food, clothes, water), but due to the tenuous nature of shipping supplies, we are requesting monetary donations to wire to them directly.
Please make checks/money orders out to Masjid Al-Islam (write “Help Masjid Tawhid” on the note line) and send them to: PO Box 62983 / Washington, DC 20029. For more information, contact Naji Mujahid at 202.271.7763 or runawayblood@gmail.com.
May Allah (swt) keep our brothers and sisters in Haiti protected and may He be pleased with them for being steadfast during these difficult times.
Thanks to br. Naji and br. Mujahid (NY)!
