"And be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send forth for your souls before you, ye shall find it with Allah: for Allah sees well all that ye do." (al Baqarah, 2:110)
"Seest thou one who denies the Judgement (to come)? Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness), and encourages not the feeding of the indigent. So woe to the worshippers who are neglectful of their Prayers, those who want but to be seen (of men), but refuse to supply even neighbourly needs." (Al Ma'un, 107:1-7)

Everyone is aware of the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in Haiti and help is needed everywhere. However, due to the small number of Muslims in Haiti (they represent only 0.04% of the population), much of that help will not be focused on them specifically. We have an opportunity to honor our covenant with Allah (swt) by helping one of the Muslim communities there. The community of Masjid at-Tawhid in Port-Au-Prince is very young. All of the community members' homes were destroyed, but the masjid is still standing (alhamdulillah) and many of them have sought refuge there. They are in need of basic supplies (food, clothes, water), but due to the tenuous nature of shipping supplies, we are requesting monetary donations to wire to them directly.
Please make checks/money orders out to Masjid Al-Islam (write “Help Masjid Tawhid” on the note line) and send them to: PO Box 62983 / Washington, DC 20029. For more information, contact Naji Mujahid at 202.271.7763 or runawayblood@gmail.com.
May Allah (swt) keep our brothers and sisters in Haiti protected and may He be pleased with them for being steadfast during these difficult times.
Thanks to br. Naji and br. Mujahid (NY)!
