“O ye who believe! Seek help with patient Perseverance and Prayer: for Allah is with those who patiently persevere. And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: ‘They are dead.’ Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not. Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere—who say, when afflicted with calamity: ‘To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return’—They are those on whom (descend) blessings from their Lord, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance.” (al Baqarah, 2:153-157)
“Say: ‘Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our Protector’: And on Allah let the Believers put their trust. Say: ‘Can you expect for us (any fate) other than one of two glorious things—(martyrdom or victory)?...” (al Tawbah, 9:51-52)
The Prophet of Allah (saw) is reported to have said: “He who equips a warrior in the way of Allah (is like one who actually) fights and he who looks after the family of a warrior in the way of Allah in fact participated in the battle.” (Muslim)
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “Who sought martyrdom with sincerity will be ranked by Allah among the martyrs even if he died on his bed.” (Muslim)
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “One who died but did not fight in the way of Allah, nor did he express any desire (or determination) for Jihad, died the death of a hypocrite.” (Muslim)

If we didn’t try a little to support our brothers and their families, then we should certainly be regarded as munafiqs (hypocrites). We feel sorry for the little that we can do. We were not Muslims following the Sunnah during Malcolm’s time, but now, we understand our duty to our martyrs and our leaders who’ve been unjustly jailed and isolated. On February 21, 2010—the 45th anniversary of the martyrdom of Malcolm X—help us help them and their families! For those who love and understand the importance of this cause, but will not be able to attend, please send your contribution to: Masjid Al-Islam / 4603 Benning Road SE / Washington, DC 20019. Your donation is tax-deductible. Our Tax ID number is: 94-3062482.
P.S. For those who will be attending, join us in also celebrating our newly opened center of strategic planning and work in Washington, DC: the Islamic Institute for Counter Zionist American Psychological Warfare!

Imam Musa, Kamal Nawash, & the Obama Budget
Yep, you heard right--in the latest edition of Press TV's "American Dream," Imam Musa sits at the roundtable with none other than Kamal Nawash to discuss Obama's $3.8 trillion budget. Described by some as a "favorite Muslim" of Islam-haters (Daniel Pipes calls him "brave" and "creative"), and by others as a "self-loathing Muslim", Nawash gained notoriety a few years ago as the odd personality behind the unpopular "March Against Terror" held in DC, which voiced support for U.S.-sponsored "freedom and democracy in the Middle East and Muslim world". That being said, this roundtable discussion proves to be an interesting interplay, and of course Imam Musa represents as usual.
Note: The portion with Imam Musa and Nawash is the second half (the first half has another set of guests). To get straight to the second half, simply drag the bar to the middle point.

Oakland Event Cancelled
Here in DC, we've been immobilized by a BIG snowstorm (it goes on record as one of the biggest in local history). Insha'Allah, the program in Oakland will be rescheduled for sometime before the end of this month. Stay tuned...

(al Tawbah, 9:51-52)
For several years, the role model for the As-Sabiqun movement has always been Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik Shabazz). On February 15, 2010, Masjid Al-Islam (Oakland) will, insha’Allah, be celebrating the martyrdom of this noble individual.
45 years have passed since February 21, 1965, yet while many have honored Malcolm X in speeches, lectures, eulogies, movies, posters, and various events and celebrations, no one has accepted his mission. For over 30 years, the As-Sabiqun movement and Masjid Al-Islam has attempted to expand on Malcolm X’s ideas, principles, and his work, which was cut short by his assassination. In the past, our great leaders rose to the occasion of the times in which they lived: Douglass rose up against slavery with his activism in the abolitionist movement; Booker T. Washington rose to correct the errors of Reconstruction; Paul Robeson rose up against Jim Crow; Martin Luther King, Jr., rose up against segregation, racial inequality, and injustice; and Malcolm X rose up against racism, colonialism, neo-colonialism, and global oppression.
Now, the torch has been passed over to us and we are in a position to either accept or reject the challenges related to the current reality with which we are faced. We accept! We are living in a time when there is a global war being waged against Islam and Muslims. Each people must rise to the challenges and opportunities of their time. In the U.S.A., none of our able organizations are willing to face the global monster of Zionist Americanism. With this in mind, the As-Sabiqun movement has opened a new center in Washington, DC, to be known as the Islamic Institute for Counter Zionist American Psychological Warfare.
Masjid Al-Islam has survived 30 years of infiltrators, saboteurs, agent provocateurs, informants, and snitches. The FBI, as well as state and local officials, have maintained a steady policy of psychological warfare, yet we are still here, even with 80% of our personnel being FBI-type agents—especially the past leadership in Oakland.
Join us on February 15, 2010, to support our newly opened institute in Washington, DC! For those who love and understand what we are doing and represent, but don’t want to be outwardly associated with us, purchase a money order and send it to: Masjid Al-Islam / 8210 MacArthur Blvd. / Oakland, CA 94605.
